Astoria
Astoria is one of Oregon’s oldest and most iconic coastal towns. It is situated along the banks of the Columbia River and houses some of the most gorgeous Victorian-era-like buildings.
You can explore some of the most exciting outdoor activities here in this town. It is conveniently located near the Pacific Ocean and along the border of Washington. This helps in drawing visitors from all over the world.
This town offers plenty to do for the tourists. One can opt to hike the wooded trails, roam around the old forts and shipwrecks, and sunbathe in the state parks that surround the city.
Things to do in Astoria – One among Oregon Coastal Towns
- Bike the Trails in Cape Disappointment State Park. You will witness panoramic views of the North Head Lighthouse surrounded by long lush trees.
- Explore Fort Stevens State Park. It is an old military fort located about 20 minutes away from the town.
- Try authentic coffee at Coffee Girl. While in the area, do not forget to explore the rest of the Pier 39.
- Take a dip in the Youngs River Falls. Grab your swimming gear and take a little swim in the area, if you happen to be lucky with the weather.
Seaside
If you are searching for the perfect beach day then pack your bags and just start driving to Seaside. This place is perfect for kids and even adults who love to have a little sandcastle-making competition.
Due to its popularity, this town is quite touristy but if visit during the early morning hours, you can find many uncrowded trails to hike, quiet rivers to paddle, and waves to surf.
Things to do in Seaside
- Kayaking in the Necanicum River – this river flows through the Seaside directly into the ocean. Therefore, it offers ample opportunities to Kayak and paddle board to the visitors. Rent a kayak or paddleboard and experience one of the best adventures in the city.
- Enjoy a relaxing beach day at Del Rey Beach State Recreation Site. spread a towel apply sunscreen and just enjoy the peaceful atmosphere in this scenic place.
- Trek the Saddle Mountain Hike. Enjoy picturesque views on this 5.2-mile hike. When you reach the top you will be able to see all the way from the Pacific Ocean to Mount Hood.

Cannon Beach
Cannon Beach is often regarded as one of the best beaches in the world. It is a must-visit when visiting the Oregon coast. Do not forget to visit the Haystack Rock which stands out as a coastal landmark.
There are tons of things to see and do here. It is a heaven for outdoor adventure lovers.
Things to do in Cannon Beach
- Explore the Ecola State Park. it is a very popular state park located in the heart of Cannon Beach. It offers a great maze of trails and views to explore, making it a fantastic option for adventurers wanting a classic Oregon coast experience.
- Visit the Hug Point State Recreation Site. there is a beautiful scenic stretch of land that runs aside the deep sea with giant rock formations on the surf.
- The beach has some really great Tipepooling options. Head straight to the Haystack Rock or Arcadia beach and grab this great opportunity. Take caution and remember to tidepool only during the low tides.
- Wander around town. Cannon Beach has a really nice downtown area. So take some to go tide-pooling only during the low tides.
Manzanita Beach
If you are looking for a place to go away for a while that is unspoiled by tourists, then Manzanita Beach is the place for you. It is a less visited place than the cannon beach in the north but holds tons of outdoor and indoor activity options.
So, if you are looking for a quaint little place with plenty of outdoor activities to keep you entertained, then Manzanita just may be the perfect place for you.
- Discover the town of Manzanita Beach. Spend some time wandering Main Street. You’ll find artisan shops to buy some souvenirs to take back home for memories.
- Enjoy a beach day at the Short Sand Beach. It is located at the center of Oswald West State Park
- Attend the Friday night farmers’ market. Who doesn’t love a good farmers market? Manzanita Beach puts on a fun market every Friday evening in the summer. Buy fresh produce, and handcrafted goods, and explore other fun stalls.
