Cannon Beach
Cannon Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the city. One of the reasons why it is so famous is because of its iconic symbol of Haystack Rock. it is a huge 235ft sea stack that is spread out along the coast. It is featured in many movies as well.
This beach is a great place for anything. One can plan a day-out with the kids and make sandcastles or just stroll around with your significant other enjoying the sunset during the evenings.
National Geographic named this place as one of the world’s 100 most beautiful places. During the low tides, one can even wander along the Haystack Rock and investigate the tidepools and sea caves.
You can rent a surfboard and a wetsuit from the nearby surf shop and go for an adventure at the sea when the waves are up.
Neskowin Beach
Neskowin Beach is a very underrated beach and is popular among the locals. Therefore, if you are looking for a secluded beach with magnificent views, then you must visit this place.
The nearby town and the beach itself have managed to stay away from the commercialization. So, you will find this beach all to yourself no matter what time of the year you visit.
Around 2000 years back, this land used to be home to 200-foot Sitka Spruce stumps. If you take a stroll around this beach, you can still find its remnants. Locals believe that the stumps are buried and preserved by a meteor shower that also destroyed the trees in the first place.
You can join a hiking group and explore the path to Proposal Rock. You will find beautiful views of the Ghost Forest at the end of your journey. If you are lucky, you might even spot some sea lions.
Cape Kiwanda
Cape Kiwanda is one of the most beautiful beaches located in Pacific City. there are tons of things to do at this beach. When the weather is a little cloudy, you can pretend to be the main lead of a romantic movie going through a breakup, haha. Or if you are a little adventurous, bring your surfboard and ride the waves.
When the tides are low, you can also visit the state’s natural area located nearby. You will find Oregon’s most iconic instagrammable spot here. You will spot a giant dune which is area’s one of the major features. This dune stands at a height of 240 feet.
Bring your friends and challenge yourself by climbing the dune. It is one hell of a journey but is completely worth it when you reach the top. There are magnificent views all around. It is a beautiful spot to set up a grill and barbeque.
Yachats
Yachats is Oregon’s best-kept secret. It is a neat and small town with friendly people. It is situated at the base of Cape Perpetua. The landscape is rugged and people from all over the world come here to get away from the boring monotonous life.
This beach is spread vastly giving you more room to stroll and take in the scenic coast. It is located 3 miles south of Yachats. Another surprising fact is that this beach was sighted and named by England’s Captain James Cook in 1778.
It is famous for its abstract rock formations. The surrounding area contains several trails where you can find ancient shells, fossils, and old-growth forests. The views are completely picturesque and incredible.
Nehalem Bay Beach
If you are looking for an escape from the busy city life then Nehalem Bay beach is the place for you to go. It is situated on a sand spit which stretches for over 4 miles. The views are stunning.
You can even find a bike path that is 1.8 miles long. Grab your bike and helmet and witness some of the best views of the bay and coast.
Due to the serenity this place offers, you will find many rare types of birds and animals here. It is a great spot for those who are interested in bird-watching. You may even get a chance to spot various deer and elks during the spring and summer.
If you want to get the whole experience, then I would recommend you to go for activities like kayaking, crabbing, fishing, and clamming. You can easily spend your whole day at this place as all the basic amenities are readily available.
Short Sand Beach
If you are an experienced surfer and boarder, then you must consider visiting Short Sand Beach. Even if you do not surf, it is still a great place to visit. This place is stunningly majestic.
Due to its popularity, it can get a little crowded during the summer. But you can still enjoy the beautiful sunset and the sunrise from the top of the hill. During the winter, the beach offers a secluded and rugged beauty with grey all around, just like out of the Twilight movie.
You can even take a walk or hike to the end of the Cape Falcon or even the top of the Neahkahnie mountain and enjoy scenic views. I would recommend renting a car with an open top because the way to the beach is another breathtaking beauty in itself.
